Are a child's tap shoe size the same as their regular shoe size? What should I look for?

I%26#039;m looking to buy tap shoes for my boy/girl twins age 4. I%26#039;m planning to buy them on ebay since I know they will outgrow them quickly and may not stick with it anyway. I don%26#039;t want to spend a whole lot of money. But, boy, is it hard to find taps for boys!

different manufacturers have different size charts
Reply:Don%26#039;t buy them on ebay or anywhere where your children aren%26#039;t trying them on. Payless and Wal-mart carry tap shoes at reasonable prices. Go ahead and buy the tie taps for your son. Take the ties out and put in elastic for him. At this age it isn%26#039;t going to pay to buy boy taps. At our dance studio we have the little ones try the shoes on with heavy socks, then as their feet grow they can wear thinner socks or just tights.
Reply:maybe be cheeky and try them on in a shop first or ask a fellow dancer if you can try theirs to get an idea of size. then work from there
Reply:close to it
